Praise report - Well in Africa!

(Regarding) the wells the kids helped dig in Africa (offerings in November and Mr. Mitchell's pie in the face). "With churches and Christian schools in Fort Myers, we were able to reach our goal of $30,000 and dig this well. I will have more pictures and hopefully video coming soon.

Why Christian School - Part 3

Third Quarter in Computer

Today, teachers have their hands-on Inservice with School Technology Programs. The focus this quarter is on flowcharts in Excel. This will be the focus for students this quarter when they come to computer class. We are thankful for this partnership with Boston University.

2) Our FIRST Father-Daughter Pancake breakfast will be Saturday, February 7th from 9:00-10:00 am. Pancakes provided by First Watch thanks to a generous donation. Tickets $3.00 for dads and $1.00 for kids. Theme - Superheros/Superdads with a devotion by Pastor Dave Richards of Kidztown. Tickets will be on sale next week.

Why Christian School? Part 2

Why Christian School? We have come so far away from where we started in this country:

Timothy Dwight IV, who became Yale's president in 1795. He pioneered women's education, and was critical of slavery and encroachment on Indian lands. Originally a Puritan college, Yale students became enticed by France's deistic "cult of reason," which birthed the bloody French Revolution.

Dwight answered their questions on faith and by his death, JANUARY 11, 1817, Yale had grown from 110 to 313 students, a third professing Christians and 30 entering ministry.

Timothy Dwight wrote in 1798:

"Religion and liberty are the meat and drink of the body politic. Withdraw one of them and it dies...

Without religion we may possibly retain the freedom of savages, but not the freedom of New England...

If our religion were gone, our state of society would perish with it and nothing would be left worth defending."

ALUMNI CONGRATULATIONS TO CHASE MARINELL, THE NEWPRESS HIGH SCHOOL GOLFER OF THE YEAR! "Strong play and consistent scoring were primary factors that led to the selection of Bishop Verot’s Chase Marinell as 2008 Player of the Year. The junior shot a 76-73—149 to tie for third in the Class A state meet, a score that helped the Vikings to an eighth-place team finish. He averaged 73.0 for four 18-hole rounds, including a 70 in the Region A-6 meet at Greenfield Plantation. He averaged 37.1 for eight nine-hole matches." Chase is not the only alumni golfer to receive recognition: second team: Airik Medinis, Fort Myers; Honorable Mention: Austin Lee, Bishop Verot; Garrett Lee, Grant Rosario, Jake Sherwin, ECS; Alex Felice, South Fort Myers!

Why Register for FMCS? Public Schools Are Not What They Were Desgined To Be!

Benjamin Rush, and he was born JANUARY 4, 1745 and has been called the "father of public school education.". He founded the Philadelphia Bible Society, a Sunday School Union and a Society for the Abolition of Slavery. A proponent of public education, Dr. Benjamin Rush wrote his Thoughts Upon the Mode of Education Proper in a Republic, 1786:

"I proceed...to inquire what mode of education we shall adopt so as to secure to the state all of the advantages that are to be derived from the proper instruction of the youth; and here I beg leave to remark that the only foundation for a useful education in a republic is to be laid on the foundation of religion. Without this there can be no virtue, and without virtue there can be no liberty, and liberty is the object and life of all republican governments."

Benjamin Rush continued: "But the religion I mean to recommend in this place is that of the New Testament...Its doctrines and precepts are calculated to promote the happiness of society and the safety and well-being of civil government."

A Message From Mrs. Rivera's Family

Mr. Mitchell,

Here are the pictures of the student's cards and letters hung up in her room. I would like to thank FMCS for their support during these tough times. Although the doctor’s say that we have a long recovery time ahead of us, I believe that God is going to continue surprising us with his healing power and love. Thanks for all of the dinners and for taking time out of your busy lives to prepare them. It shows that the people that work for FMCS were handpicked by God himself. It has been a blessing to be reminded once more that my mom works with such awesome people. Please continue to pray for quick recovery of my mom’s right side and for her speech. (What would she do without being able to talk and brag about her children.) LOL
Well, thanks once again. I know that one day you will all be able to see the miracle that God has been performing in my mom’s life.

Third grade takes gifts to WAY-FM

Math Pals in Action

Math Pals (4th graders with pk3 students) went on a scavenger hunt that included shapes, colors, knowing the parts of the body and teamwork. They used the collection items of candies to decorate a gingerbread cookie.
