Blessing FMCS This Christmas

Next time you come into the Children's Center, check out the "FMCS WISH LIST CHRISTMAS TREE." You can be a blessing to the school, teachers, and students by picking off one or more of the ornaments that represent items on the teacher's wish lists. You can give the ornament and the donation (amounts. are on the ornaments) to our office. THANK YOU FOR BLESSING FMCS!

By the way, the tree is made up of hands - those are cut outs traced from the actual hands of our elementary students! Many thanks to Mrs. Sinex, Miss Cesarino, Mrs. Felice, Mrs. Edwards and Miss Blanden for all their help.

7th Graders In Orlando

Today our 7th graders traveled through time with their social studies teacher, Mrs. Mitchell - to Medieval Times! No better way to study that time period of history!

Lessons On Shells

I want to thank two of our former teachers who were our very special guests in 3rd grade yesterday - Mrs. Betty Baxter and Mrs. Trish Lanahan. The students were blessed to hear about the unique ways that God created shells and they were each given a special shell from the ladies to take home!

It's A Meaningful Lunch

Well sort of - the fourth grade is celebrating their pizza and a movie prize party today. Many thanks to Parent University for the lunch and congratulations to Mrs. Sanders who won a Target gift card! (prize from the Abundant Funds fundraiser). The class is watching the new Veggietales movie, "It's A Meaningful Life."

Veterans Day 2011

November 11th has been special at FMCS with our annual visit from our heroes on Veterans Day! Many thanks to our veterans for coming in today and sharing with our generation of young people - patriotism, courage, strength, honor for God and country. I am thankful for the awesome work of Paula Dillon, Jennifer Crouch, Dorothy Yorty, our teachers, and students - our middle school chorus and our National Junior Honor Society students especially. We had amazing stories from various wars, conflicts - including one who was present on D-Day and another that was sent to Hiroshima after the bomb was dropped. This was a great morning. (Also: thanks to our parents for providing breakfast for the veterans)

Friday of Many Activities

Saving lives through the blood drive on campus!

Colonial days with 3rd grade!

The 5th grade play in the elementary building.

Number One at FMCS!

A special presentation was made this morning in our elementary school. The Lee County Public Library System holds a bookmark contest each year. In the past, we have had students recognized at different levels, but we have never had the "number one" winner in the county - that all chnaged today! The theme this year was "Blast Off With Books." There were 310 entries from 10 different schools in the area. Out of that group, our school has four students recognized in the top ten:

10th place in the county: Hannah Upton, 4th grade
8th place in the county: Stephanie Blum, 4th grade
4th place in the county: Ethan Liebetreu, 5th grade
1ST PLACE IN THE COUNTY: ERIN REEVES, 3RD GRADE

Erin will also be recognized on November the 12th at a reception at the Hotel Indigo in downtown Fort Myers!

MANY THANKS TO OUR STUDENTS, STAFF, PARENTS, FRIENDS AND PARTNERS FROM ORGANIZATIONS THAT HELP US WITH OUR Mission 25:40 Program. We had a great assembly today highlighting each grade and ministry for this year. God is doing great things in the school!

For more information, go to: http://fmcs-fl.org/category/campus-life/missions/

Our students also kicked-off the Operation Christmas Child by joining with First Assembly to send over 2000 shoeboxes this year to children in need around the world! Our Honoe Society students are holding some of the first shoeboxes to be brought over from FMCS!

Fourth Grader Meets the Mayor

Fourth grader, Lucas Bell, has been working on his Florida report in Mrs. Sanders class. In the report outline it is indicated that he could receive extra credit for a picture with the mayor. His mom thought it would be a great opportunity for him to meet the mayor. He was very excited when I got him a appointment with Mayor Henderson. Mayor Henderson talked about his family, what he did in the past, where he worked, and why he decided to run for mayor. Lucas really enjoyed the autographed book about early Ft Myers, and a lapel pin. It was a great experience for Lucas and his mom.

New Locker Rooms Update

The ladies locker room has just some finishing touches, but is almost competed. They are working on the men's locker room this week and want to be ready by Friday! THANK YOU WORKERS!
