Giving Thanks!

It is another one of the those times when a principal is thankful for where he works:

- Millions of years ago..."- NOT! Thank you for a great Creation Science Weekend! I want to thank Eric Hovind, Pastor Finger, Colleen Marinello, Parent University, First Assembly of God, Masters Commission, NJHS, the 8th grade missions team, parents, students, guests and all who attended! What incredible information that we can learn to be lights to the world. Those who attended, PLEASE email your feedback on the event or comment here on my blog.

- Our new Parent University t-shirts went on sale this past weekend at $10 each. You can purchase shirts at the next cafe on October 6th, and the Annual Banquet/Silent Auction on October 10th.

- I want to thank our first grade parents and families for taking us through the last two weeks of heading up the Salvation Army Can Food Drive. I also want to thank our very generous families who have turned in 3313 items! Our per student average from last year has already been surpassed this year - 12.99 items per student!

Thank you!

Gary Ledger Retires

In my first mobile posting from my phone to the web - just wanted to say thank you to one of hardest working employees over the past twenty years. Gary Ledger had been working faithfully in our campus maintenance department and is now retiring to move with family in California. His party was today after school - thank you Gary!

The 7th grade bible class and Tim Tebow

A couple of weeks ago, my 7th grade bible class watched a video clip produced by ESPN's College Gameday - they followed Florida quarterback, Tim Tebow, to the Phillipines on a missions trip that he took on his spring break. The Heisman Trophy winner spoke to the orphans there, performed minor medical procedures, and gave his testimony to men at a prison about his relationship with Christ. A new activity that we have taken on this year in bible class is to write letters of encouargement to fellow Christians, like Tim Tebow, and let them know that we are praying for them.

Today an envelope came from the University of Florida with a prepared statement that read:

"As a student-athlete at the University of Florida, I am honored that you have expressed an interest in me. I take my platform as the 2007 Heisman Trophy Winner very seriously, because it enables me to be an ambassador for college football and the University of Florida and also a role model for aspiring young athletes...As important as football is to me, my priorities that precede football are faith, family, and academics. A verse from the Bible that I often quote is Philippians 4:13, which credits my true source of strength.

God Bless and Go Gators! Tim Tebow"

Also inside the envelope were Gator football schedules and an autographed picture of Tim Tebow for each of the students in the class. Continue to pray with us for Tim and for His walk with the Lord!

Busy Morning for Parent University!

Monday morning, 9.15.08 - a great job this morning by Parent University! First, we had an EXCELLENT TURNOUT this morning for the Parent University Cafe. There was great news about the current events and upcoming school events, which included the Silent Auction items for the Annual Banquet/Silent Auction on 10/10. Parent also had a chance to promote their businesses as well.

While all this was happening, Parent University officer Aimee Cline and Paint Misbehavin were visiting all the classrooms in PK-5th grade to get student fingerprints or hand prints for the ONE OF A KIND items that will also be auctioned off at the Annual Banquet/Silent Auction.
