8th Graders Given Bibles

Our 8th grade had the honor of receiving a pocket New Testament from Gideons International.

"The Gideons International is an interdenominational association of Christian business and professional men who are members of Protestant/evangelical churches. Our members are dedicated to saving the lost through personal witnessing and the distribution of God's Word in more than 190 countries around the world...Bibles and New Testaments are personally distributed by members of The Gideons International to these groups: Students in the 5th grade and above; prisoners and police, fire, medical and military personnel; anyone else Gideons witness to individually; God's Word is placed in key locations, including: Hotels and motels; hospitals, convalescent homes, medical offices and domestic violence shelters; prisons and jails." (from their website http://www.gideons.org/)

Many thanks to Mr. Jack Allen for setting this up for us. A testimony was given and a time of prayer, as well as passing out the bibles.

Very cool!
Something we did at my last school, and something I plan to implement at this school is to present Bibles to all of our students finishing 2nd grade. It is a way of saying, "Now you are an independent reader. You are able to read the Word of God all by yourself and He will help you understand it."

Thanks for spreading the Word!
