We welcome our new math teacher!

FMCS is pleased to welcome Mr. Jonathan Blikstad as our new 6th-8th grade math teacher. Mr. Blikstad is certified in math in the state of Florida and has taught math over the last four years at Cape High School. Mr. Blikstad is also a pastor and God greatly used him as a witness to the students and teachers. We welcome Mr. Blikstad, his wife and 12 children (yes, 12). We look forward to the upcoming school year and Mr. Blikstad will have a good idea on how to best prepare our middle schoolers for high school!

Creation Science Weekend - 2 weeks to go!

Parent University's first big event will be a community-wide Creation Science weekend with Eric Hovind of Creation Science Evangelism Ministries. He wll be here for a two day seminar, September 26-27! The event will be held in the sanctuary of First Assembly and will be a HUGE help for moms, dads, students (ages 12 and up), teachers, etc. in learning great information that will help you when you have those "discussions" with an evolutionist! 2007-2008 Principal's Award

The Principal's Awarded to the top middle school student who exemplifies leadership in word and deed. This year's recipient was 8th grader, Katie Leigh. Miss Leigh was the President of the National Junior Honor Society, received a $750 scholarship offer from Bishop Verot High School for her score on the PSAT, and her short story, "The Promise," was judged as EXCELLENT by the Association of Christian Schools International Creative Writing judges. She is a fine young lady and was very well respected by her class and teachers.

Golden Apple Teachers

In 1991, FMCS established our own Golden Apple Awards. Votes are tabulated from students, teachers, and parents. (This year, online voting was added) Our winners for 07-08 were:

Accelerated Reader Party Time!

Many thanks to Mrs. Woods and Mrs. DeAvila for coordinating our Accelerated Reader program this year! Thank you to all the parents who volunteered and assisted them! And a great 4th grade party with Mrs. Couch, Mrs. Sanders and Mrs. Williams. What a great idea - excite students about reading.

The bleachers and gym floor are gone...

As you can see, the gym floor was removed (on 5/17) so the renovation is underway!

Great Night of Music

I would like to thank Mrs. Dorothy Gulbronson, our music teacher, the 5th and 6th grade students and teachers, and the 7th and 8th grade chorus for a great Spring Concert on May 16th. There was a mixture of songs, a blacklight presenation (which was awesome), and human videos. I am sure the evening was a blessing to all those who attended. THANK YOU!

Student's Video Receives Recognition

At the Award ceremony held May 14th, 8th graders Megan Bowen and Tristan Buchanan received Honorable Mention in the Lee County Student Film Festival for their computer animation film. (Only three entries receive trophies from across all MS entries.)

The better news is that they scored high in their specific category and advanced to Regionals in Tampa.

And the bleachers are gone...
