Across the nation, February 1st was
Digital Learning Day. A recent quote is an eye opener:
January
2012, Google Chromebooks
Group Product Manager, Rajen Sheth:
"How many of you," he
asked, "remember the world before the Web?" Nearly every hand in the
room went up. "It's interesting," said Sheth, "Not long ago
it occurred to me that this year's graduating class of high school seniors will
be the first group of students to not know the world before the Web. Every student
in every classroom from here on out will be part of the Web generation."
That, he said, has serious implications for how we educate.
Here some examples of how our teachers integrated technology in the classrooms:
PK3, Mrs. Peek: with the use of the iPad2, we watched
Animal Planet’s video shorts of actual black bears getting ready to
hibernate. Ended with Sesame Street’s word of the day- Study on hibernation.
K, Mrs. Weber: We researched online how to
make a robotic device, researched online, then created our own
on paper. They thought it was cool.
2nd grade: activities using a new Brightlink interactive projector - more news on that coming soon!
4th grade: virtually
dissecting an owl pellet in preparation for dissecting an actual owl pellet
Thursday.
5th, Mrs. Couch: used the website, www.classdojo.com - a new interactive, real time, behavior management system.
